A 12-year-old boy was in critical condition in Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood Saturday evening with symptoms of possible meningitis, officials said.
On Wednesday, West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park reported the death of Ian Henly, 5, after he suffered symptoms that officials said were similar to meningococcal disease, a infection that occurs as an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord or a blood infection. The 12-year-old was transferred from West Suburban to Loyola earlier Saturday.
