A public hearing on Chicago’s preliminary budget for 1998 is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Central West Regional Center of the Chicago Department of Aging. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.

The budget, which Mayor Richard Daley and other city officials have predicted will require no tax increase, will be presented to the City Council in mid-October. Copies of the document can be examined at any Chicago Public Library branch.
