Locker room cheer: A bad day on Hinsdale Golf Club’s course in Clarendon Hills gets a whole lot better when players catch a glimpse of the fanciful posters created by Lorraine Deshong, an employee whose efforts go well beyond her job description.
Her three-dimensional posters herald forthcoming events, congratulate winners on their achievements and soften the news if the pool or snack shop is closed temporarily.
Hired as women’s locker room attendant 14 years ago, she soon was asked if she could do a promotional poster.
“I’ve always loved color and texture, and my wish was to be an interior decorator, a dream I never achieved; so it seemed making a poster would be interesting,” said Deshong, a Lombard resident.
She had been at it ever since, creating amusing messages with glitter and glue, feathers, magazine clips, stencils and story lines on 32-by-40-inch boards.
Clearly, Deshong has her eye on design.
