Raymond A. Johnson, 83, a South Side native and veteran of the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day during World War II, died Thursday in Little Company of Mary Hospital, Evergreen Park. A graduate of Tilden High School, Mr. Johnson served in the Army and received the Purple Heart for his service. An employee of Western Electric for 28 years, Mr. Johnson also served as an Evergreen Park village trustee. He lived in the same Evergreen Park home with his wife, Jessie, for 57 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lawrence; a daughter, Sheila Kay; and a brother. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in Kosary Funeral Home, 9837 S. Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Queen of Martyrs Church, 10233 S. Central Park Ave., Evergreen Park.
