The Prime Table Steak House, a 16-year-old restaurant in Rolling Meadows, recently trimmed and spiced its menu to become an affordable, casual, yet refined steak house.
“We’ve always been famous for our beef,” said owner Jorge R. Perez of Elmhurst, who also owns Harry G’s Crab House in Schaumburg and J.P.’s in Chicago. “Now we’re a steak house.”
The fare blends three regional favorites: the Midwest’s beef, steaks and chops; New England’s fish and sauces; and New Orleans’ spices.
To attract younger crowds, the restaurant changed its concept but retained many of its original elements, such as leather semi-circle booths, subtle lighting, linen napkins and tablecloths and a quiet atmosphere. The new concept adds white butcher-block paper atop the tablecloths; a complimentary wine-tasting bar; and a pared-down menu.
Eighty percent of the original menu remains, but with a twist that offers a combination of seafoods and steaks, improved presentation, health-conscious vegetarian or Caesar salads, fresh seafood from Boston and a variety of pastas made with olive oil.
Lunch selections include chicken Caesar salad ($7.95), veal picante and tri-color rotini ($8.95), broiled filet of salmon ($8.95), swordfish ($8.95), prime rib of beef ($9.95) and a 10-ounce burger ($5.50).
Dinner features Dover sole almandine ($23.95), roasted and grilled prime rib ($14.95-$21.95), rack of lamb ($20.95) and barbecued baby back ribs ($13.95).
