Raymond Ostick Day, 73, sales manager, war veteran and volunteer, died Thursday in Wynscape Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in Wheaton. Mr. Day was born in Hackensack, N.J., and delivered by the short story writer and poet William Carlos Williams, who was also a doctor. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado, Mr. Day worked for Binks Manufacturing Co. in California and Chicago. He retired in 1986, after working 30 years. He lived in Wheaton from 1966 until 1986. Then he moved his family to St. Charles. Mr. Day served in the Pacific Theater during World War II in the U.S. Air Force. Later, Mr. Day was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts and the Red Cross. Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Elizabeth Day and Ruth Buell; a son, Raymond Adams Day; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, East Main Street and 3rd Avenue, St. Charles.
