Gerald E. McIntyre, 77, of Algonquin, formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday at his home. He worked as a manager and engineer for Illinois Bell and Bell Laboratories, retiring in 1982. He was past president of the Telephone Pioneers and the Illinois Beekeepers Association. He worked as a volunteer at Woodstock Memorial Hospital, and was a member of the 56th Field Signal Battalion Association. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded five battle stars, including the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary; one son, Craig; one daughter, Rebecca Netzel; five grandchildren; one sister; and one brother. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Stirlen-Pieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. service at the funeral home.
