Gerald E. McIntyre, 77, a resident of Algonquin, formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday in his home. Mr. McIntyre, who was a retired manager and engineer for Illinois Bell and Bell Laboratories, was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers and of the Illinois Beekeepers Association. He was a volunteer at Woodstock Memorial Hospital, a member of the 56th Field Signal Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. McIntyre served as a second lieutenant during World War II and was awarded five battle stars including one for the Battle of the Bulge and one for D-Day. He is survived by his wife Rosemary; son, Craig; daughter, Rebecca Netzel; five grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Stirlen-Pieper & Davenport Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington.
