What’s 24 hours long and free as the wind? Marshall Field’s Day of Music, beginning at midnight Saturday, to celebrate the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s renovated and expanded home.
After the orchestra’s concert Saturday night at the Symphony Center, CSO Music Director Daniel Barenboim and several CSO musicians will lead the Day of Music, part of a three-week festival to inaugurate the center. Performances will include blues, jazz, gospel and country. Self-guided tours of the complex will be offered. For more information, call 312-294-3000.
