Helen P. Levin, 82, of Crystal Lake, worked for more than 30 years as a clerk at grocery stores in Chicago. She died Tuesday in Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. She was a native of Chicago and lived in the city and Birmingham, Ala., until five years ago, when she and her husband moved to Crystal Lake. Mrs. Levin worked at Jewel, A&P and Dominick’s grocery stores and belonged to the retail clerks union. She served as superintendent of the primary department for education at North Austin Lutheran Church and Edison Park Lutheran Church, both in Chicago. Recently she was a member of Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Algonquin. She is survived by her husband of almost 61 years, Ellsworth “Bud” Levin; a daughter, Judith Eastwood; one sister; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Light of Christ Lutheran Church, 100 Hanson Rd., Algonquin.
