Apparently, the NIMBY (Not In My Backyard) movement is alive and flourishing in Rogers Park. We arrived home on a recent Sunday to find the following notice posted on our front door:

“Should 6741 N. Ashland become a halfway house for drug- or alcohol-addicted women? An Evanston church is rumored to be buying the house at 6741 N. Ashland for a women’s halfway house. If this doesn’t sound like something you would like to have in the neighborhood, please call your alderman and voice your opinion.”
