John Wayne Alefirenko, 42, a resident of Elk Grove Village for eight years, died Friday in his home. Born in Chicago, Mr. Alefirenko was a longtime employee of Bell Atlantic, where he was as a field service computer engineer. A graduate of the DeVry Institute of Technology, Mr. Alefirenko was taking heating and air-conditioning classes at the Universal Technical Institute in Glendale Heights. There are no immediate survivors. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service at 11 a.m. in the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago.
