Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The phrase “youth is wasted on the young” never seemed more true than when I read Monica Eng’s commentary about the Rolling Stones concert (Tempo, Sept. 23).
Monica, sweetheart–lighten up! You may lie awake at night worrying about men your father’s age drinking beer and yelling things like “Stones rule!” and “I love you, man,” but never fear. I am sure the day after the concert they will go back to being loving, respectable fathers and grandfathers, just like I would hope to believe the Stones are. (Also, I think those phrases are used more by Generation X-ers than by aging Baby Boomers. “Cool” would be more like it.)
I suggest that Ms. Eng heed the words of a very wise man, “It’s only rock ‘n’ roll, but I like it!”
