Linda Chavez never ceases to amaze me with her somewhat “Alice in Wonderland” approach to statistics.
In her Sept. 24 column on the television show “Nothing Sacred”(Op-Ed), she contends that the majority of Catholics still support traditional Church doctrine by stating that 72 percent to 98 percent of those still attending mass agree with various Vatican teachings.
At the same time, however, she notes that only 50 percent of all Catholics even attend church regularly. To me, 72 percent to 98 percent of 50 percent is not a statistic I would admit to being proud of.
