Agreeing that they faced too many unanswered questions, the Zoning Board of Appeals postponed until Oct. 27 a request for a conditional use permit to build a skateboard and in-line skating park in the former Gary Lang Chevrolet space at 908 Front St.
Michael Moran, a real estate broker who plans to convert the property into a Rolling Action Park, said the project would utilize 5,250 square feet inside the vacant building and 5,000 square feet outside at the rear of the property.
Admitting that developing a park devoted to skateboards and in-line skates was new to him, Moran was unable to satisfy all the commissioners’ questions relating to layout, safety, fencing and parking.
The commissioners expressed overall support of the project. But board Chairman Harry Semrow said, “It’s very difficult for us without a little more guidance.”
The commission wants Moran to provide information about the construction and track records of similar parks.
“I think everyone sitting here would be supportive of (the) park,” Semrow said, but “there needs to be a little more meat put into this plan.”
