Edward Price, 89, a Rogers Park native and longtime public servant, died Oct. 1 in Ft. Lauderdale. A graduate of Western Military Academy in Alton and the University of Illinois in Champaign, Mr. Price received his law degree from DePaul University in 1932. He was elected Republican committeeman of the 49th Ward in 1952, a post he held until his retirement in 1976. Gov. Otto Kerner appointed him to the Illinois Commerce Commission in 1963. He followed that with a stint as secretary-treasurer of the Cook County Forest Preserve District from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Price also was legal counsel for 13 years to the Illinois Department of Education and Registration, and concluded his service in the secretary of state’s Department of Consumer Fraud. He had lived in Ft. Lauderdale since retiring in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Marion; three sons, Allan, Steven and Richard; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Weinstein Family Services Wilmette Chapel, 111 Skokie Blvd.
