George E. Hoff, 77, retired president of Corn Products Co., died Sunday in his home in Oradell, N.J. From 1947 to 1968, he was an executive here with the firm, which has a plant in Summit. A native of Waukegan, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. During World War II, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy, received five battle stars and was honored for his development of destroyer torpedo strategy. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Catherine; four sons, Walter, Edward, Vincent and Dr. James; three daughters, Mary Eileen Roos, Geri Havill and Nancy Tishman; a sister; and 17 grandchildren. Mass will be said Wednesday in Oradell.
