Julien J. Compernolle, 71, of Wilmette, died Monday in his home. A Chicago native, Mr. Compernolle was the owner of Progress Electric Co., an electrical contracting business, from 1960 to 1990, when he sold the company and retired. An electrical engineer, he worked on many of the office buildings in the Loop. He is survived by his wife, Claire White Compernolle; two daughters, Susan and Mary Claire Belton; four sons, Paul, Robert, Thomas and John ; a sister; and 18 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 9th Street and Linden Avenue, in Wilmette.
