Frances H. Benson, 97, of Aurora, died Saturday in Tillers Nursing Home, Oswego. Mrs. Benson graduated from Wheaton High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University. She moved to Aurora in 1933, where she spent the rest of her life. She was a teacher at the country school on Deerpath Road for several years and at west side schools in Aurora for 15 years before retiring in 1962. Mrs. Benson was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Aurora Women’s Club and the Conimur Reading Club. She was also a past president of Alpha Epsilon chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and life member of the Kane County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include two sons, Raymond and John; a sister; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were held Wednesday.
