When severe weather is on the horizon it should be no surprise to Bartlett residents.
Village Board members this week approved funding for a lightning prediction system for the village-owned Bartlett Hills Golf Course and a $30,142 severe weather warning siren for the Apple Valley Drive lift station.
The Thor Guard lightning device, which will cost $13,950, is said to be 96 percent accurate and operates over a 15-mile radius.
“I’ve seen this system in use at the Elgin Country Club,” Village President Catherine Melchert said. “When the alarm goes off, nobody questions it. Everybody leaves the golf course.”
