Rev. Edmond E. Hood, 71, an Episcopal priest for more than 40 years, died Saturday in Community General Hospital in Sterling. Rev. Hood, a native of Urbana, attended Eureka College and Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. He was a curate at Christ Church and St. Edward’s in Joliet; St. Margaret of Scotland in Chicago; rector of St. Ignatius in Antioch; and served 25 years at St. Raphael the Archangel in Oak Lawn. After he retired in 1988, he worked at Grace Episcopal Church in Sterling; St. Brides Church in Oregon-Mt. Morris and St. Anne’s in Morrison. Rev. Edmond was also a retired chaplain for the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Antioch Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Marlowe; two daughters, Pamela Starinieri and Carolyn Gaziano; a son, Edmond II; a sister, Margaret Lane; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Grace Episcopal Church, 707 1st Ave., Sterling. Services will be held there at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
