Village Board members will consider Thursday whether to conduct a special census that could bring $240,000 in revenue.
Trustees will vote on a proposal to spend $62,000 on the census, which would focus on specific areas of the village where growth has occurred, said Village Administrator Gerald Sagona.
Sagona estimates there are between 1,730 to 2,500 more residents since a community-wide census more than a year ago. Lake in the Hills receives about $92 per resident per year from income tax and motor fuel tax revenue from the state.
The increased revenue would be returned to the village over a 1 1/2-year period. The next village-wide census will not be held until 2000. Sagona said village leaders had earmarked $50,000 of this year’s budget for a census.
