Edward J. Harrison, 68, a retired police officer and ironworker, died Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. A Chicago native who lived in Plainfield, Mr. Harrison held a number of jobs before becoming an ironworker, an occupation he held for more than 25 years. Previously, he was head of maintenance for Jefferson Elementary School in Palatine District 15. He also worked as an officer for the Palatine Police Department for one year and for the Chicago Police Department for five years. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Carol; one daughter, Claire Marich; two sons, Christopher and Edward Jr.; one sister; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
