The Wheeling Plan Commission has approved unanimously the appearances of two proposed business signs.
Netcom, 599 Wheeling Rd., represented by George Schlangen of A.G. Signs, Wheeling, petitioned for approval of a 4-by-24-foot double-sided illuminated sign. The commission approved the sign, with the condition that the size of the street numbers on it conform with Fire Department regulations.
Handy Andy Industrial Help Services, 65 S. Milwaukee Ave., a division of Olsten Staffing, represented by its president, Bill Semler, requested approval for a 6-by-2-foot non-illuminated sign. The commission approved the request on the condition that the background of the sign be cream-colored or beige.
The commission also discussed appearance review guidelines, including whether trees near the Wickes Furniture Showroom sign that were cut down should have been trimmed instead.
