Francis Buckingham, 49, of Chicago died in his home Wednesday. Mr. Buckingham was a native of Chicago’s South Side and served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was coordinator and director of the organ transplant procurement program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, said his wife, Marguerite. “He gave a lot of his life to that job; it was a 24-hour commitment to go wherever he was needed in order to harvest organs for transplant,” she said. Other survivors include three daughters, Carolyn, Julia, and Frances; his mother, Eva; and a sister. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Drive, Chicago.
