A handful of library patrons watched recently as architect Donald Olivieri unveiled his firm’s rendering of the proposed Frankfort Library addition.

The unveiling was part of a public hearing at the library. The hearing was part of the Frankfort Library District’s efforts to drum up support for a two-part plan slated for the Nov. 4 ballot.

The plan asks for a $1.2 million bond issue and an increase of 0.05 of a percent in the library’s annual operating millage.

In return, patrons would receive a 7,124 square-foot addition, 3,048 linear feet of shelf space for new books, an increased book budget of $100,000 and extended hours, board members told those in attendance.

Attendees preferred listening to Olivieri, a principal in the firm of Olivieri Brothers of Richton Park, describe the proposed addition’s indoor and outdoor reading areas to asking questions.
