A congressional conference committee recently agreed to fund the National Endowment for the Arts for $98 million for the next fiscal year, thus enabling the NEA to continue funding such memorable exhibits as the combining of urine and a crucifix in a bottle.

Surely, Arlington International Racecourse can be viewed to be more of a piece of art than standing on the flag of the United States and urinating in a bottle. But our state legislators continue to sit on their broad backsides, often confused with their brains, and refuse to consider granting it slot machines or any other non-taxpayer relief.

Maybe that’s their problem; they can’t figure how to make the taxpayer pay as Congress does with the NEA.
