Shirley Smith Angelo, 75, a former resident of Hinsdale, died Tuesday in Mercy Hospital, Muskegon, Mich. In recent years, Mrs. Angelo lived in Whitehall, Mich., and Englewood, Fla. She served as a WAVE officer in naval communications during World War II, after graduating from the University of Chicago in 1943. From 1958 until her retirement in 1993, she maintained several business interests in Hinsdale, including the development of the historic Municipal Building on 1st Street into a commercial property. Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Wyatt and J. Kimberley; two daughters, Percy Angelo Medintz and Janet Pare; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Grace Episcopal Church, 120 E. 1st St., Hinsdale.
