William Patrick Fitzgerald Jr., 65, a retired investigator for the Department of Housing and Urban Development and before that for the Economic Employment Opportunity Commission, died Tuesday at home in South Holland. A native of Chicago, he attended Douglas Elementary School, Phillips High School and Hampton Institute in Hampton, Va. He received a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University and a master’s degree from Governors State University in 1975. He was a historian for the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He served in the Navy and Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife, Maryanna; a son, William III; a daughter, Carolyn; his mother, Juanita Watson; his stepmother, Shirley Fitzgerald; two sisters; and a brother. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Cage Memorial Chapel, 7651 S. Jeffrey Blvd., Chicago.
