Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
It is apparent that neither Dave Wannstedt, Tribune staff writer John Mullin nor TNT analyst Sean Jones majored in logic (Tribune, Oct. 14). Both Mullin and Jones bought the coach’s argument that going for two points was justified, since Brett Favre and the Packers would have had nearly two minutes to drive for a winning score. Am I missing something here? It would seem pretty obvious that the Packers were going to have that last opportunity to score whether the Bears went for two or one. The Bears’ defense was going to have to stop the Packers in any event.
I actually admire Wannstedt for having the courage to try what he felt he had to do, but two-point conversion statistics show that his choice was imprudent.
