Amoco operating net up: Amoco Corp. reported third-quarter profits equaled those of a year ago at $635 million, while per share net edged up to $1.30 from $1.28 on fewer outstanding shares. Included in the 1996 results was a $97 million gain from the sale of the Chicago-based oil company’s polystyrene foam products business. Excluding the gain, Amoco earnings were up 18 percent in the latest period. Revenues eased to $8.93 billion from $9.02 billion.
