John “Jack” L. Glancey Sr., 79, of Carol Stream, a painter in Chicago’s Loop for nearly 35 years, died Saturday in Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield. From the late 1940s until his retirement in 1983, Mr. Glancey worked in the painting maintenance departments of such establishments as the Conrad Hilton Hotel. From the late 1960s until his retirement, he was a part of the painting staff at the Wrigley Building, according to his son, Jack. He was a former vice president and president of Local 147 of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. Other survivors include his wife, Josephine; a sister; a brother; and three grandchildren. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday with a prayer service in Cypress Funeral Home, 1698 N. Bloomingdale Rd., Glendale Heights, and continue with a 10 a.m. mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1555 Glen Ellyn Rd., Glendale Heights.
