Why are people so paranoid of homosexual people? They did not do anything to us! There are some people who think that homosexual people are sinful. If you think that they are committing a sin, then let them! Their decision has nothing to do with you or your religion; it’s none of our business.
Do you know that homosexuals are committing suicide just because they are scared of the hatred people will show them?! We have to stop hating people just because they are different. I just do not understand why people are scared of differences; they won’t hurt you.

LET CANDLE BURN
I don’t understand why after singing “Candle in the Wind (1997 version),” that Elton John won’t sing it ever again. I think he is in a way being selfish. If people want to mourn Princess Diana’s death, and that song sure helps, then he should help them out. That song brought joy to some people and others a helping hand in recuperating from a great loss. If it helps people, why is he being selfish and refusing to sing?

FUNDRAISING REEKS
I think fundraiser are really dumb (Oct. 14 Tough News). Why don’t the schools just ask for more money? It’s not so much to ask, is it? Besides, this stuff we kids are selling is way overpriced.
Emily M., Evanston
I hate fundraisers so much! We just got one, and I got yelled at for ripping it up in the classroom. All I did was roll my eyes.
Bake sales are a way better idea. I feel so mad about that kid, Edward Werner, being killed.
It’s just not right to sell stuff for overpriced junk. In our fundraiser, you had to sell $50 to get a stupid plastic toy ring! And $150 for a stupid necklace that wasn’t even gold. School fundraisers suck, and I ain’t gonna do them.

PASS THE BALL
In response to “Taking it in stride” (Oct. 14 Sports): I am glad Michael Jordan looked on the bright side about Scottie Pippen’s recent surgery, but I don’t think the Bulls should only be counting on MJ, even though he is awesome. We have lots of great players, and we should not only give credit to MJ. We do have the best 3-point shooter in the league, Steve Kerr, and more great players.

RECESSED
You should never take away recess from children. It gives them time to talk to their friends and run around outside. I’m not suprised that the teachers are mad also. It gives them free time to eat their lunch, talk to friends or other teachers, grade papers and have some peace and quiet. It also is bad for them because if the children don’t have time to run around outside, they are antsy and talk a lot in class.
So if there is a principal who is thinking about taking recess away -don’t.

NO SEX
I am writing to you regarding” Safe sex update” (Oct. 14 Tough News): I feel that high schools should discourage sex instead of promoting it by giving kids free condoms.

IT WAS A JOKE…
Hanson is a great group, and your column about their movie was very disrespectful (Oct. 14 Cover). About the Spice Girls: They suck. And Taylor is the only Hanson who likes ONE of them: Emma. My mom said, I can imagine an adult page doing this, but KidNews? “I never dreamed of that!”
WHERE’S THE LOVE?!?!
Rebecca B., Oak Park
Even though I can’t imagine Hanson as movie stars, I can imagine them as the Three Stooges. I hope they all shave their heads!

GRIEVING OR GREEDY
I am writing in response to “Chrysler must pay” (Oct. 14 Tough News): It is terrible that those people are asking for so much money! It won’t bring their son back. $262.5 million is an awful lot. Instead of grieving, they are being greedy.
