A proposal to bring an indoor baseball training facility to Prairie Point Corporate Park at Illinois Highway 59 and Ferry Road has received a preliminary nod of approval from the City Council.

The Council authorized a Chicago White Sox Training Center as a temporary use in an existing building at 2012 Corporate Lane. The approval initiates the review process.

The council specified the site, which is zoned as a district for office and industrial uses, can be used only for baseball training to avoid future use for other recreational purposes.

Robert Kallien, Naperville community development director, said the training center will not be a workout location for professional players, but a “school” where kids and others can get lessons on their game.
