Catherine Rippel, 100, a seamstress and homemaker who lived on the Chicago’s North Side for nearly 80 years, died Saturday in Glenoak Nursing Home in Northbrook. Born in the former Austro-Hungarian empire, Mrs. Rippel moved to Chicago with her family in 1906.Except for a 10-year stay in North Dakota, she lived on the North Side until 1981, when she moved to Northbrook. Survivors include a son, Andrew; two daughters, Catherine Lindquist and Nancy Rubel; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Brook Worship Center, 3700 Dundee Rd., Northbrook.
