Motorists driving through Elk Grove Village should be aware police are planning roadside safety checks this weekend to remove impaired motorists from the road.
The Elk Grove Village Police Department will combine efforts with the Illinois State Police to conduct roadblocks throughout the village on Saturday and Sunday.
Elk Grove Village Police Sgt. Dion Zinnel said officers will conduct inspections of random cars at checkpoints and will address all traffic violations discovered during the inspections.
Zinnel said the department received a grant of $3,200 from the Illinois Department of Transportation to conduct these inspections.
