Ford Motor Co. said it’s adding 1,000 jobs and boosting production of F-series commercial pickups at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, starting next year.
The change was announced earlier, though not the details. The plant will start to operate on a 120-hour production week, up from the current two-shift, 80-hour week, by June.
The extra workers will be hired mostly from employees laid off at other Ford plants, the company said. About 650 are coming from the plant in Lorain, Ohio, where production of Thunderbird and Cougar cars ended last month.
Ford will begin production of redesigned F-250s and F-350s in January at the plant.
