With residents of the Indian Creek subdivision in Buffalo Grove upset about uncompleted sidewalks in their neighborhood, Mayor Sidney Mathias is threatening to call in the developer’s construction bond unless the walks are finished this month.
Residents say there are no sidewalks in front of undeveloped lots in the 3 1/2-year-old subdivision, just chunks of rock.
“Our kids can’t ride bicycles because, every other home, there’s no sidewalk, so they’re riding in the streets,” said resident Bari Kozin.
The village holds a $107,000 letter of credit from Buffalo Grove developer Edward Schwartz & Co. Mathias said he will notify Schwartz that unless the work is finished shortly, the village will redeem the bond and complete the project itself.
