Next month when you’re stuck in traffic going to or from O’Hare, remember that the 16-mile stretch of road you’re crawling along opened, at the seemingly reasonable cost of $237 million, on Nov. 5, 1960, as the Northwest Expressway. On Nov. 29, 1963, it was renamed in honor of slain president John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
