Planning for a proposed south suburban airport near Peotone continues to plod along this week in the form of public hearing and public information workshop.
On display and subject to public comment will be an environmental assessment of the airport plan prepared by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Basically, it claims that any problems that construction of the controversial airport would create can be mitigated and would be substantially offset by an array economic benefits to the region.
Opponents will be on hand Wednesday in Matteson to dispute IDOT’s study and its conclusions about the project’s potential impacts.
