Blair Kamin’s coverage of the cold glass and hard steel structure recently opened as the Elmhurst Art Museum (“Meshing With Mies,” Arts & Entertainment, Sept. 21) was well done.

However, I wish he had just once torn his gaze from the Mies icons and given a tip of the hat to the “lady of the house.”

Without Eleanor King Hookham’s remarkable vision, warm heart and persistence for over 40 years, the art museum would never have happened. In her biography, “El King,” published in July, it is noted that she was personally responsible for raising $2 million of the $3.5 million needed to place the Museum in Wilder Park.
