Borg-Warner Security Corp. said it earned $4.7 million, or 19 cents per share, in the third quarter, an improvement from a loss of $23.2 million, or 99 cents per share, a year earlier, which included losses of $26.4 million, or $1.13 a share, from discontinued operations.

The Chicago-based security company said revenue fell 10 percent, to $390.8 million from $434.9 million.

For the nine months, Borg-Warner Security said its earned $12.8 million, or 53 cents per share; it lost $20.8 million, or 88 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenues declined 9 percent, to $1.15 billion from $1.27 million.
