James Joseph Mackey, 74, formerly of Barrington, died Thursday in his home in Clearwater Beach, Fla. Mr. Mackey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star. Before retiring, Mr. Mackey worked in the meat departments of Jewel Food Stores and Dominick’s Finer Foods. Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, James and Robert; a sister; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until prayers at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Rd., Mt. Prospect. Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
