I am writing in response to the KidNews article “The nail” (Oct. 7 Cover). Really, I mean come on! Who really cares about a 12-year-old guy who’s a cross-dresser? And why are you writing this junk? Do you want all boys to become cross-dressers?
Kids these days are already subjected to enough of this trash. And one more thing: This article is trash. I hope you never print an article like that again without thinking twice about the impact this may have on America’s male youth. I am proud to be a guy and will not change.

TALKING BACK
I know you have said that Backtalk is made for us, by us. Although you have totally explained that crap, I think you should print topics that kids really care about. What I mean is that you should print letters that express feelings about topics that are becoming popular in the area, such as the death of John Denver or teen pregnancy issues. I must say that listening to people argue about Hanson’s girlish looks and talent is getting quite boring. We all have our opinions, but this is getting pathetic.
I, and many others, think that there are more important topics to publish in KidNews Backtalk. Either that or encourage a different newspaper to publish a kid paper weekly.

Editor’s heavy sigh: I must not be explaining this right, cuz it’s a simple fact that we can’t print ’em if we don’t get ’em! We do run letters about other topics–when readers write them. (We can’t exactly make them up!) This is your page, so instead of simply complaining, readers, take control and make it what you want it to be. In the time it takes to write and say you don’t like this page, you could have written about a topic you consider important.
OK, enough. Peace.
HA HA HANSON
I like when you put in articles about Hanson. Your article “Imagine Hanson as MMMovie stars…” (Oct. 14 Cover) was really funny, but not enough to be an insult.

STOP THE TORMENT
I am responding to “Taunting teens” (Oct. 14 Tough News). It is bad to make fun of someone, but to torment someone day after day is terrible.
God made us in all different shapes and sizes. If I could talk to the tormentors, I’d say put yourself in their shoes.

BEAR-LY BREATHING
Could the Bears get any worse? That’s the question everyone is asking. The Bears need a coach and a new QB. If the Bears had a “good coach,” they wouldn’t have lost every game.

CONGRATULATIONS!
I’m just writing to say congratulations to Claire. Miles is an amazingly adorable baby (Oct. 14 Cover).

DOG TALK
I like your article on “Wishbone” (Oct. 14 Backtalk), because it is a really good show for kids to learn. Wishbone is a cute little dog. I can’t believe he keeps the costume on.
