Martha E. Park, 95, of Wheaton, a former director of nursing services at Presbyterian Hospital and longtime community volunteer in Wheaton, died Saturday in Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield. A native of Muskegon, Mich., Ms. Park attended Wheaton College in 1924 and received her nurse’s training at Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago in 1927. She was a private-duty nurse until 1942, when she began working at Presbyterian Hospital, now called Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, where she was a night supervisor and then director of nursing services, retiring in 1965. She traveled widely and was an avid amateur photographer. She had photographs published on the cover of Moody Monthly and in the Chicago Tribune, said her niece, Faith Haddock. Ms. Park was a deaconess and office volunteer at the College Church of Wheaton and founded the Keenagers, a church-affiliated senior citizen group that organized programs and dinners. “It started in her house, and it moved to the church when it grew too large,” Haddock said. Ms. Park also delivered Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors. The Wheaton Senior Citizen Club named her VIP Woman of the Year in 1985. An avid knitter, Ms. Park sold some of her craft work and photographs through the DuPage County Historical Museum. She is survived by a sister. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at College Church, Washington and Seminary Streets, Wheaton.
