Rev. Walter E. Roschke, 83, former pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville, died Sunday in the Community Convalescent Center in Naperville. Rev. Roschke graduated from St. Paul’s College in Concordia, Mo., in 1934 and from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1938. He was ordained a minister in 1940 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Chicago. He served at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood, Ill., from 1951 until 1956, when he became pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church in Naperville. He retired in 1987. He also served as secretary to the Central Regional Pastoral Conference, pastoral adviser to the Lutheran Laymen’s League of Northern Illinois, and committee member in charge of the Lutheran Hour Rally. Rev. Roschke is survived by his wife, Lenore; two daughters, Marlene Rodgers and Carol Ottley; three grandchildren; and three brothers. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bethany Lutheran Church, 1550 Modaff Rd., Naperville.
