In his columns regarding Ald. Patrick Huels, John Kass has proved again that personal attacks and innuendo precede substantive exploration of the truth.
Despite what Mr. Kass thinks, Ald. Huels deserves his day in court. He, like everyone else, is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Any appearance of impropriety, no matter how questionable, does not give a newspaper columnist carte blanche to criticize a person for his fluctuations in weight, his wardrobe, car or if he has a personal trainer. In fact, character assassination has no place in a field supposedly dedicated to careful examination of the truth.
