Imation Corp. of Oakdale, Minn., said it will fire as many as 1,500 workers, or 15 percent of its work force, and take a $200 million pre-tax restructuring charge after warning that fourth-quarter profit will fall far short of analysts’ estimates. The company, which makes computer floppy disks, backup tapes and medical imagers, said fourth-quarter profit from operations will be less than the third quarter’s $3 million, or 8 cents a share.
