Nipsco Industries Inc. said its third-quarter net income rose 4 percent, to $35.9 million, or 57 cents per share, from $34.4 million, or 56 cents per share, a year earlier, boosted by the addition of IWC Resources Corp. in March.

The Hammond-based electric and natural gas utility said revenues rose 51 percent, to $596.3 million from $393.7 million.

For the nine months, Nipsco said net income rose 8 percent, to $134.9 million, or $2.18 per share, from $125.2 million, or $2.03 per share, a year earlier. Revenues rose 26 percent, to $1.78 billion from $1.41 billion.
