Dr. Hugo Cutrera, 89, a physician for more than 50 years, died Friday in Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Dr. Cutrera, a lifelong Chicago resident, had a private practice at Clark Street and Fullerton Avenue for many years. As a general practitioner, he made house calls and delivered hundreds of babies throughout the Chicago area. He served as the team physician for the Chicago Bears during the 1940s and 1950s. Dr. Cutrera also was a former president of Columbus Hospital in Chicago, from which he retired during the 1960s. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Suzanne Lombardo and Mary; two sons, Stephen and Peter; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 8025 W. Golf Rd., Niles. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Isaac Jogues Church, 8149 Golf Rd., Niles.
